I began the academic study and clinical training to become an integrative counsellor & psychotherapist in February 2003. I starting working with training clients in late 2003 and have been in private practice as a counsellor & psychotherapist since I completed my course and qualified, in the autumn of 2005.
My private practice is based in St Albans.
From April 2013 to January 2016 I worked as an honourary, unpaid counsellor & psychotherapist at a local drug and alcohol rehabilitation and recovery service, which was community based and non-residential.
From December 2003 to September 2005 I worked as an unpaid training counsellor & psychotherapist at a day hospice in Barnet, which provided support services to cancer sufferers.
I have many years of experience as a mentor and life coach of teenagers and adults.
My Masters thesis is research based, a pilot study on the similarities and differences between mentoring and counselling teenagers in secondary schools in England. I have self-published my MA dissertation. You can find it on Amazon Kindle if you would like to purchase a copy: Mentoring and Counselling Students in Secondary Education.
I earned an MA in Psychotherapy and Healing Practice from Middlesex University and Society for Psychology & Healing, London, UK, in 2012.
I am currently completing a post-qualifying course in Other Centred Counselling & Psychotherapy, through the Tariki Trust in Leicester. Other Centred training is grounded in the person centred approach and in Buddhist psychology. It has significantly informed my own secular Mindfulness practice and the integrative and psychodynamic approach that I take in working with my private clients.
Please Google me in order to read more about me, if you would like. I have public postings that you can read on Facebook and have a Mindfulness Facebook page. (With respect to my my personal Facebook page, I only ‘friend’ family members or people that I know outside of my work.)
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), actively working towards accreditation. I adhere to the BACP code of conduct. It is the foundation of my work.
